What Is A Double Cone Rotary Vacuum Dryer
Oct 10, 2025| Double-cone rotary vacuum dryers are widely used for drying powdered and granular (including crystalline) materials in the pharmaceutical, chemical, food, dye, and powder metallurgy industries.
The dryer features a cylindrical center and conical ends, with an inlet and outlet (also serving as a manhole) located at the top of the cone. The vessel is divided into three layers, with the central jacket heating medium being steam (pressure ≤ 0.6 MPa gauge) or circulating hot water. The insulation layer is ultra-fine glass wool, which provides excellent thermal insulation. Material is placed in the inner container, where it is swirled and heated by the vessel walls. Rotating under vacuum conditions, the dryer accelerates drying, preventing yellowing of the material surface during drying. This significantly reduces drying time to approximately two-thirds of the time required for similar materials in a vacuum oven, improving productivity. The dryer is particularly suitable for drying materials at risk of oxidation and heat-sensitive materials. Its superior performance is particularly evident in drying materials that require a stable crystalline state, materials with strict metal ion control requirements, and materials requiring the removal of volatiles (or toxic substances) for recovery.
The dryer is easy to operate and convenient for loading and unloading, which greatly reduces the labor intensity of workers. It also reduces the environmental pollution to the materials during the drying process, improves the product quality, and complies with the requirements of the pharmaceutical management specification "GMP".
