Industrial Drying Room
For larger batches, a drying room can be a more practical choice than a conventional drying oven. The material can be placed on trays, racks or drying carts, and the chamber size can be arranged around the actual production requirement.
At Nanjing Menbo Environmental Technology Co., Ltd., we mainly work with customers who need drying equipment for pharmaceutical materials, herbal products, food, chemicals and other industrial materials.
Before we suggest a configuration, we normally want to know a few basic things: what the material is, how much needs to be dried in one batch, its starting and final moisture content, the required temperature and how the material will be loaded.
These details affect almost every part of the drying room.
Drying Process
The drying room works by circulating heated air through the loaded material.
The heating unit raises the air temperature, and the circulation fan sends the air through the chamber. As the air contacts the material, moisture is carried away. Part of the humid air is exhausted from the chamber and fresh air is introduced into the system.
The air circulation does not have to be the same for every product. A tray filled with sliced herbs, for example, has a different airflow requirement from a layer of powder or granules. Loading thickness also matters.
For this reason, we prefer to determine the fan capacity, air duct arrangement and heating power after understanding the material rather than selecting them only according to the chamber volume.
Chamber and Internal Construction
The drying room consists mainly of the insulated chamber, heating section, circulation system, air ducts and control cabinet.
Stainless steel is commonly used where cleanliness and corrosion resistance are important. For pharmaceutical and herbal applications, the internal surfaces can be arranged to make cleaning easier and reduce areas where material residue can remain.
The chamber can be supplied with different loading arrangements. Depending on the production process, trays, fixed racks or movable drying carts can be used.
The insulation is also part of the chamber design. A suitable insulation layer helps reduce heat loss and keeps the working temperature more stable during operation.
Heating
We can configure the drying room with different heating methods, depending on the conditions at the customer's factory.
Electric heating is straightforward for plants with sufficient electrical capacity. Steam heating can make more sense where a steam system is already available. Other heating arrangements can also be considered when the project requires them.
The heating power is selected according to the chamber size, material load, required temperature and expected drying cycle.
We do not normally recommend using the same heating specification for every drying room.
Temperature and Air Control
Temperature is only one part of the drying process.
The circulation of air inside the chamber has a direct effect on how evenly the material dries. If the air does not reach the loaded material properly, increasing the heating temperature will not necessarily solve the problem.
For pharmaceutical or cleaner production environments, filtered air can be added to the system. The control configuration can also include temperature monitoring, automatic temperature adjustment and PLC control when required.
The actual control level depends on the production process. Some customers only need basic temperature control, while others need a more complete automatic system.
Where It Is Used
Our drying rooms can be configured for different types of materials, including:
Pharmaceutical raw materials
Chinese herbal materials
Granules and powders
Food and agricultural products
Selected chemical materials
Other industrial products requiring hot-air drying
The same drying room design is not suitable for every material. When we receive an inquiry, we normally look at the material form and drying requirement first, then discuss the chamber capacity and equipment configuration.
Main Configuration
| Item | Configuration |
|---|---|
| Equipment | Industrial Drying Room |
| Drying Method | Hot Air Circulation |
| Heating Source | Electric / Steam / Other |
| Loading | Tray / Rack / Drying Cart |
| Temperature Control | Digital Controller / PLC |
| Chamber Material | Stainless Steel / Carbon Steel |
| Air Filtration | Optional |
| Chamber Size | Customized |
The final dimensions, heating capacity, fan specification and control system are determined according to the customer's material and production requirements.
Our Approach
We have found that a drying room inquiry usually starts with a simple question: "How much can it dry?"
That number alone is not enough for us to select the equipment.
A 500 kg batch of wet herbs and a 500 kg batch of powder may have completely different drying requirements. Moisture content, loading thickness, temperature tolerance and drying time all need to be considered.
This is why, at Menbo, we normally start the discussion with the material and process instead of sending a standard machine configuration directly.
Nanjing Menbo Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. supplies drying equipment, pharmaceutical equipment, mixing equipment and ozone sterilization equipment. If you are planning a new drying system, you can send us the material information, batch capacity and required drying temperature first.
We can then discuss the suitable drying room size, heating method and air circulation arrangement with you.
